CHILE

Chile is a long strip of land that is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains. Part of the Pacific ring of fire, this country is known for its earthquakes and volcanoes.

Despite Santiago's history beginning with its founding in 1541 by the Spanish conquistador, Pedro de Valdivia, due to its destruction by earthquakes, much of the city has been rebuilt, and now has an eclectic look. Parts of the city include sections referred to as "Paris, London, and New York."
